Designing slick UX/UI for mission selection and HUD screens for my video game concept starring a daring carrier pigeon 🎮🐦💥

Hermes: Sky Messenger

Based on the true stories of WWI and WWII carrier pigeons such as Cher Ami and GI Joe. In this game, you control Hermes, a WWII carrier pigeon on daring missions. Dodge obstacles, planes and poison gas, evade enemy falcons, collect supplies and use power-ups to survive dangerous skies and deliver messages to allies. Be mindful of enemy territory!

Tools: Adobe XD • Photoshop • Illustrator • After Effects • Miro • AI

  • I created gamer personas and a user journey flow in Miro to generate a UX for a mission selection process. I also created UI elements for the mission selection screens and HUD screens.

  • I built a non-destructive atomic design system for this prototype and designed the logo and iconography within Adobe Illustrator.

  • I animated elements such as the loading screen and interactive components within the mission selection menu.

  • I used Adobe XD, Photoshop and Illustrator to create a high-fidelity prototype that can be controlled via a PlayStation controller.

  • I explored AI tools such as ChatGPT and Midjourney to support the character art and background imagery for this project, as well as gather inspiration.
