SUpporting CMU

Website redesign, boosting donations & community engagement for CMU’s Foundation and Alumni Association 💪💸

Challenges

Revive an outdated website for CMU’s Alumni Association and Foundation. Make the site feel like its own entity within CMU’s online brand look and feel. Move away from the BlackBaud CMS platform which is clunky and difficult for contributors to use.

Audiences:
Community, Donors, Alumni.

Business goals:
Generate more donations and integrate Classy donation platform into the new site for easier donation management.

Solutions

I led a complete redesign for Colorado Mesa University’s website, including the UX/UI design, research, design system, responsive templating structure, web development setup, front- and back-end development, and setup within our CMS – Cascade.

Tools:

Adobe XD • Photoshop • Dreamweaver • Cascade CMS

HTML • CSS • JavaScript • Velocity (Cascade CMS) • Bootstrap 4

  • Redesign the entire website to align with our existing online brand and design system. Create a more engaging UX for donors and alumni.

  • Build the new site using HTML5 and upgrading to the Bootstrap 4 framework. Develop in Velocity for back-end content management system.

  • Revamped information architecture for scattered webpages.

  • Added custom event functionality and collaborated with the team on how to integrate Classy campaigns into the website to promote events and campaigns.

  • A direct donation embed form integrated across the website.

  • We pivoted away from BlackBaud’s clunky CMS into Cascade, where we were able to give the team more control over their web pages, custom site functionality and templating options.

  • A page that features the latest issue of the Maverick Magazine and all past issues for donors and alumni to explore.
